Applications Open for the 2019-2021 IFSC Athletes Commission Ahead of Upcoming Elections

The IFSC Athletes Commission is pleased to announce the upcoming election of new members, who are to be elected during the 2019 IFSC Climbing World Championships in Hachioji, Japan.

Playing a central role within the IFSC and holding a strong decision-making position, the IFSC Athletes Commission ensures that athlete voices are heard and their opinions are considered with regards to the future development of Sport Climbing. Meeting at the IFSC World Championships every two years, the Commission also convenes over teleconference every few months, or as and when important topics arise.

At the 2019 IFSC Plenary Assembly in Tokyo, Japan, a unanimous decision was made to include a Vice President (a different gender to the Commission President) of the Athletes Commission within IFSC Executive Board, to increase inclusivity and place athlete voices in an even more dominant role.  

Athletes interested in becoming involved in the Athletes Commission are encouraged to contact current members of the Commission for more information. Members of the current Athletes Commission, elected/appointed in 2016, include:

  • Sebastian Halenke (resigning)
  • Delaney Miller (resigning)

Please note that interested candidates should apply as representatives of the disciplines they are registered for at the 2019 IFSC World Championships. Election results shall be published at the end of the voting period at the IFSC World Championships in Hachioji, Japan, on the 16th August 2019.
