IULIIA KAPLINA FINISHES IN 12TH PLACE IN THE RACE FOR THE WORLD GAMES GREATEST OF ALL TIME
Multi-decorated Russian climber Iuliia Kaplina placed 12th in the race for The World Games Greatest of All Time, the poll launched by the International World Games Association (IWGA) On December 10, 2020 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The World Games first edition, held in Santa Clara (USA) in 1981.
Each International Federation had the chance to express one nomination, and the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) decided to nominate the 27-year-old Speed climber from Tyumen who won two medals at The World Games: she placed 3rd in Cali (COL) in 2013, and 1st in Wroclaw (POL) in 2017, where she also set a new Speed World Record with the time of 7.32 seconds. On top of that, Kaplina is one of the most successful Speed climbers of all time, having collected an impressive number of World Cup medals – 12 golds, 11 silvers and 8 bronzes.
The list of 24 nominated athletes was published by the International World Games Association on January 4, while voting opened on January 8 and will end on February 1.
The IFSC is a member of the IWGA since 2002, has appeared in the last four editions of The World Games and is part of the program of Birmingham 2022.
