Media Policies
IFSC Media Policy
It is the responsibility of all media representatives to be informed of media procedures, including IFSC policies and competition access requirements. Information will be provided beforehand by the IFSC Communications Department and will be available in the press room throughout the competitions.
Access to the Venue
Journalists and photographers shall register through the online media accreditation form.
All media representatives must wear their badges and jackets for the whole duration of the competition. Badges ad jackets are available in the press office starting on the morning of the first competition day.
When granted an accreditation, media representatives are given a category that determines their level of access at the competition. It is not possible to apply for a media accreditation if already in possession of another badge.
With a “Level 1/Journalist" press badge, media representatives can:
1) Access the Press Room, Mixed Zone, and Reserved Audience Area
With a “Level 2/Photographer” press badge, media representatives can:
1) Access the Press Room, Mixed Zone, and Reserved Audience Area
2) Access the Photo Area with photograpic equipment
Filming of the competition is prohibited without prior agreement from the IFSC. To file a filming request or purchase footage from the IFSC please fill in the respective forms.
Media representatives are not allowed to access the Field of Play or other restricted areas, including the Isolation Zone.
Media representatives also must:
- Not distract or interfere with the athletes in preparation of or during their attempts
- Not distract or interfere with the belayers
- Not block the line of sight of a judge or an official camera
- Obey immediately the instructions of IFSC Officials
- Only shoot from allowed positions
- Bend on their knees when standing in front of the crowd
- Not obstruct and collaborate with other media representatives
Violations of the IFSC Media Policy may cause the withdrawal of one or more accreditations, the prohibition to use IFSC materials, and other sanctions.
At any time, the IFSC Communications Department may issue additional requirements for media representatives.
IFSC TV Policy for Non-Rights Holders
The IFSC is the owner of broadcasting rights at all IFSC competitions. As owner of all footage streamed or broadcasted during IFSC competitions, the IFSC is willing to give accredited Non-Rights Holders media representatives a clear policy regarding the filming of IFSC competitions.
Freely Available Content
At the end of every competition day featuring semi-finals and/or finals, the IFSC produces a news edit, a dope sheet, and a shot list for news and reporting purposes. They are uploaded on the IFSC online archive and can be accessed by completing an online form here.
Materials are typically uploaded within six hours after the end of the competition. These materials can be used for free up to three days after the competition. Past this deadline, additional use will be subject to a license fee.

Violations
Violations of this policy may result in withdrawal of media accreditations and restricted access to IFSC competitions or IFSC media materials.
If content is uploaded online without the IFSC’s permission, the IFSC will claim for removal and/or monetisation of the content.
Further Stipulations
At any time, the IFSC Communications Department may issue additional requirements at the competition.
Questions regarding this policy should be discussed with the IFSC before the competition.
